How to Change or Update Your Email Address

What to do if you need to change your email details

Making sure you have the right email address associated with your account will make sure that you don’t miss out on any Invitations or emailed notifications.

💡

It’s important not to change your email address until you’ve read the article below, as there are implications in doing so that could impact your project Invitations and activity history. We’ve outlined the recommended process further down the page.

You can check your email address in Settings - My Profile The email displayed here will match your login details.

Project Invitations

Project Invitations will come to you for one of two reasons:

A builder has manually sent you an Invitation using the contact details in their EstimateOne Address Book

You have interacted with project documents by viewing, downloading or requesting access, and an automated Invitation is generated as a result

As email addresses are maintained by each builder in their EstimateOne address book, each builder is responsible for updating their address book with changes to contact information. EstimateOne cannot update this information on their behalf.

💡

If you update your email address in Settings and don’t advise your network of builders, you won’t automatically receive any manual invitations that they send to you, potentially missing out on important projects. You would receive automated Invitations in the above second scenario.

You can notify builders of your new details from any recent EstimateOne Invitation email. Scroll to the bottom, and click the ‘request to update your details here’ link. We’ll notify all builders that have your original email address in their Address Book about your new details. We can also provide a list of builders with your details on request, if you would like to reach out directly.

Note that the builder still needs to update their address book with this change manually.

Invitations and Watchlist activity

Changing your email address in Settings will also remove all of your historical Invitations and Watchlist data. This information is really useful for tracking projects of interest, so it’s important to consider this impact when changing an email address, as neither you, nor your team will have visibility on this historical content.

Recommended Process

If project Invitations from builders and Watchlist activity isn’t important for your role, you can go ahead and change the email address by overwriting it and clicking Update Profile

As this data is important to most users, we suggest:

Add your new email address as a new user even if it’s for the same person. Once all historical content is no longer relevant, and you all builders have updated your details, the old email address can be removed from your team.

On the original email login, head to Settings - My Profile and unsubscribe from email notifications. This step stops automated system-generated emails from being sent to your old email address.

Find a recent invitation sent to the original email address, and click request to update your details here as shown above.

EstimateOne will automatically notify all builders that have you in their address book, prompting them to update your contact details. A reminder that this is managed independently by builders once notified.
